U14's v U15's friendly
Well that was an entertaining evening, on the serious side I'm not sure what Paula and Daniel learned from it but from where I was stood you have a lot of work to do this next couple of months.
I appreciate that you were being switched about a bit and it showed in that for the most part when you got the ball no one seemed to know what to do with it. There wasn't anyone making runs into space and shouting for it hence no serious threat whatsoever to their goal.
In midfield no one picked anyone up when they were attacking and when our keeper had the ball to kick out no one went forward enough to take advantage of his long kicks.
In defence and this applies to all the lads, you just weren't sharp enough. I know the U15's were a bigger and stronger side but to a degree that can be counter acted by being a bit sharpish to the ball.
I saw some good tackles from a couple of lads but again by and large it was poor. Easy for me to preach but the focus of any tackle has to be aimed at the ball and not the player. You've all heard the saying 'took my/your eye off the ball', that's used generally when you make a mess of something. Taking your eye off the ball when playing invariably means you miss it which you did, to often.
Now the really entrtaining bit, the last ten minutes when the U14's had around 20 players on the pitch and overun the U15's by sheer numbers to pull three goals back. Not sure what the U15's made of it but for us specators it was 'Well funny' and really entertaining watching them battle against those odds.
Well done to the U15's for being so sporting, you've got some really talented lads playing there albeit I could have scored some of their misses.
Thanks for an entertaining evening to all.
Almost forgot, Jack, stick to reffing you're better at that than playing in the back four.
