Rossendale 12 -- 1 Padiham Saints
I'm sure the players will want to forget this day fast. We didn't get off to a great start when a few parents got lost on the way there! There was barely time for a warm up when we got everyone together.
1st half was a disappointment, playing into a strong wind, clearances and goal kicks were thrown back into our faces. We conceded a few without threatening their goal area, including a harsh penalty, off which Nathan made a tremendous save, but unfortunately our players didn't react to the rebound and the ball did eventually find the net.
2nd half wasn't much better, with most of the lads looking as if they'd rather be back at home. Rossendale continued to pass the ball well and bagged a few more goals. We did manage to grab ourselves a goal through Lewis after Rossendale's defence went missing for the last ten minutes, and we had many more chances, but there was no conviction or purpose in our passing.
To put it lightly, the team 'didn't show up' and despite having some setbacks the team never seemed too interested in getting a result. On a positive note however, Nathan Crabtrees performance in goal was sensational, making save after save throughout the game and without him the scoreline could have been much worse. Not much argument that he was man of the match. Well done to Nathan.
