What's going on?

Postby Jon on Sun Apr 05, 2009 5:57 pm

After we'd arrived at Blacksnape for todays Rooks game against Knuzden the opposition started to arrive, a couple of coach's and half a dozen players.
Well within earshot and without any provocation the lads whilst warning up were talking and mentioning 'Burnley scum'. The reaction from thier coach? Nothing? :?
Seconds later another bright muppet said 'I'm in a leg smashing mood today', reaction from the coach? Nothing. :?
I have to question first the lads attitude and respect for other people and secondly the coach's fitness to be in charge of impressionable kids. This surely isn't right on both counts?
I know and appreciate the desire to win and sometimes the heat of the moment gets the better of some folks but to me it's kids football and I really sometimes do wonder what the clubs teach them. :x
The FA have and are making a big thing about 'Respect' what a laugh that is, I've seen very little at grass roots level and it's merely paying lip service to what seems to be a big problem.

Next beef is again linesmen, todays from the opposition was again someone else who just hasn't got a clue about the offside rule. When using team officials to run the line the LFA should instruct the ref to ensure that the linesmen have at least a basic knowledge of what the offside rule now is i.e. a player although in an offside position will not be given offside unless he's brought into play or interfere's with play.
Todays official either knew the rule and cheated or I gave him the quickest lesson he'd ever had in the offside rule. Our player shot from twenty or more yards, not a pass, a shot at goal, we had one player in an offside position over the far side and up went the flag. I pointed it out hurriedly to the linesman who must have taken notice because minutes later in play on goal we had two players in offside positions and he rightly let play go on. :?
There were a couple of dodgy decisions in the first half but I can't really pass comment on those because I wasn't near enough inline to see but I know a man who was.

Well that's my whinge for today.
