I couldn’t believe how badly you started off, their goal was scrappy and down to our sloppy defensive play. We gave the midfield to the opposition again and there seemed little or no commitment from anyone, certainly no fluency.
For the life in me I can’t see why our goal was disallowed, offside apparently……..mmmmmmmmmm, I wonder, not being in line with play.
The equaliser, well, the luck certainly went with Saints but that said it was good pressure from Curtis on the keeper that forced the error but how different it could have been, again we turn our backs on the ball.
Second half you started to play and I may be wrong but I think our keeper touched the ball three times. You went in to win the balls, played well down the flanks and had more than your fair share of the midfield play. The winning goal was again from good play down the right I think from Ben and Reece, although again a scrappy finish the build up was good.
What positives can you take from the game; well it showed that when you play football and get the challenges in you can match anyone, certainly in this league. Still areas to work on though, again one or two getting ‘mouthy’ with both the coach and the ref. Needs to stop lads, sorry you’re going to get kicked playing football and if happens when you’re challenged and the ball is won legally that’s the way it goes. Harsh I know but if you don’t like it take up snooker.
On the balance of play you deserved the win and full credit to Ossy for the way they defended. I did say to Lyndsay midway through the second half that I could see us getting caught on the break. It didn’t happen of course and it proved the fact that if you’re attacking they can’t score.
Well done to everybody today, sounds pretty good again doesn’t it, League Champions, something to celebrate at the presentation.
