Rooks 1 v Langho 5

Rooks 1 v Langho 5

Well what a farce at the start of the game, I'm refering to the big pitch centre circle. The council really need to do something about. This led to the game being played on an extended small pitch which led to a comment from Langho that Saints were cheats and could only play on small pitches, that really made me smile, nothing could be further from the truth. It really gets farcical week in week out, just when you think you've seen it all another gopher pops its head up.
A halftime comment also made me smile when someone commented that Saints were just 'Dingles', well that was challenged by one of ours and the commetor said 'Sorry love, no offence'. Well being a side from Langho I think I'd be right to asume that they were b******s.

First half you lads were really up for it and their goal you can put down to our error but what a slick and class reply almost imediately. Dec's pass through to Ben was unselfish, had great vision and resulted in a class goal. 1-1 at half time was probably a fair half time score but you had chances again to go a couple of goals up. Ben's free kick was a pearler and only an excellent save from their keeper kept it out.

Second half you went to pieces a bit and out of the 5 goals they scored I put 4 of them down to our sloppy play. Not bad play just sloppy. Against a lesser side you may get away with it but this wasn't the case. Their free kick was a good goal but again we could have done better against it????

My critisisms today, well to be quite honest our tackles just didn't go in in some quarters, they came past you far to easily at times. There were times of panic at the back where we'd four or five players in the box and no one took resposibility for clearing it. At times you floundered like fish out of water, James keeps telling you to talk, why doesn't someone just say bla bla's ball and go in and clear it?

There's no grumbles about being beaten, they were a stronger, more physical and faster side but you weren't outplayed by any means. The scoreline is maybe flattering to them but in the second half we created little.
Todays showing in the first half is the football that will win you the league title so let's carry it over to the next game. Well done lads, you gave it a shot.

Forgotten

Postby Jon on Sat Mar 07, 2009 3:18 pm

I should have added this comment to my orignal post but old age made me forget.
Now lads, I commented last week on you for want of better words 'Gobbing off' to James during the game, you went one better this week by doing it to the ref.
Leave it out lads for a few reasons, one you won't change the refs mind right or wrong they may be, two it's very discurteous and thirdly as you get older you're going to find yourselves in the book or worse sent off.
We all know they don't get it right all the time but like I said when they make their decision that's it.

Thanks

Thanks for that Simon, I think I've made it sound a bit worse than it was but there was a few occassions of discent from the lads, it wasn't tantrums or anything like that and they are normally fairly well disciplined. Guess the pressure gets to everyone.

Rooks v Langho

Postby paula sykes on Sun Mar 08, 2009 7:40 am

Even though I wasn't there today I was getting continuous updates from Yvonne. I was well excited with the result being 1-1 at half time. I know injurys prevailed yet again in the second half with Jay going off with sickness and Mattie taking a knock but I know James had nothing but praise for you all when he came home. We always knew it was going to be a toughie with Langho winning this cup 3 years on the trot but hold your heads high saints the first half showed you really have the talent and determination to get out there and play with the best of the best and get the upper hand at times. Well done to you all.

Oh yes

You're spot on Paula, the lads didn't play bad at all and in the first half I think Langho would have been relieved to go in level. They were without doubt a better footballing side but I'll tell you what, their entourage leaves something to be desired. :x
God forbid we ever act like these imbecile spectators.
