Saints v Readstone

Saints v Readstone

We haven't had much chance to watch the under 8's this year and haven't seen a full game up to today. It was obvious watching you warm up that you were a team with a mission. Every one of you could shoot and not just shoot but shoot extremely well. Passing the ball in warm up is the best I've seen from a Saints team all season. The keeper was confident and competant, what is it about Saints that breeds good keepers?

In the first half playing slightly uphill I thought you really had your work cut out, specially the first five minutes where you had constant pressure. Once you settled you more than came into the game and played some very good football. I have to say how unluck you were not to be two up at half time and but for two excellent saves from their keeper you would have been.

I was quietly confident in the second half playing downhill and although Readstone did pressure you on occassions Saints keeper was never tested. That speaks volumes for the team and particularly the defence.
Your first goal was a peach, that's how to play football and win games. Sorry I can't give credit to the lads that did the damage because I don't know your names but the run with the ball and then an inch perfect through pass to the forward who hit it first time was absolute class, and I really mean that. Any team anywhere would have been proud of that.
The second almost on time was the result of good pressure, again with a one goal lead you went for that second. Attacking is always a good way to defend a lead, if you're in their box they can't score.

It's obvious that the team as a whole have been coached to the highest standard and the display today must have been extremely satisfying to them. You should be very proud of what you've achieved this year and are a credit to Padiham Saints. You are obviously very fit lads the way you ran to the end, I see a great future and many trophies for you in coming years.

Thanks for a great Sunday mornings entertainment from me and Sue and well done again. :D :D :D

I couldn't agree more Jon. The football I have seen today was amazing from the front to the back they worked as a team and when they had their chances they took them. The fitness was also outstanding they were so quick to get to the ball Readstone didn't really cause us a threat. A fantastic and enjoyable game to watch I'm just sad that I haven't been able to see more. Well done again Under 8's North Valley League Champions 2008. (and carry on playing like that I can't see many catching you next season either you'd give a year above you a run for their money as well)
