Padiham Saints 3-6 Clitheroe Wolves

Well, we got off to a surprisingly good start when all the squad remembered to put their clocks forward, meaning there was no need to drag anyone out of bed.

The match itself in my opinion was a very exciting game to watch from the sidelines, with both teams putting together good passing moves and counter attacks. We had a very slow start to the first half, much too defensive, dropping too deep and inviting pressure. This meant chances were rather restricted for us in the first 30 minutes. We went behind to a couple of goals after 15 minutes or so, took a chance at the other end to make it 2-1, but unfortunately conceded another before the whistle. 3-1 at halftime, and the players had a chance to waken up a bit for the start of the second half.

A much improved effort during the second half meant we looked a lot more dangerous in the final third of the pitch. Our midfield were linking play excellently and supporting the forwards well, something we lacked in the first half. A few bounces went against us however, and we couldn't drag ourselves back into the game, conceding 3 more goals. But we managed to grab 2 deserved consolation goals and were unlucky to hit the bar too.

Can't remember all the goal scorers but Phil got 2 and Lewis 1. The teams top performer for me today was the official man of the match Liam Fletcher, showing some nice touches and accurate passing. But todays game was all about the team performance, we go from strength to strength each fixture as we gel ourselves as a unit and get used to our 4-5-1 formation.

Anyway, it's good to get this season finished now, so we can prepare ourselves for the next one. A few friendlies and a couple of new faces will see us a higher position next time I'm sure, exactly what you deserve for your commitment to the club over the past year.
