Sporting 1-2 Saints

Another match, another three points... I sense we'll be up a few places in the table next year!

Well, with this game you can see just how much you've come along as footballers, both as a team and individually.

First half wasn't too much to shout about, quite an even game with Sporting edging the possession and chances, but we defended very well with some good closing down and tackling, and with Andy Reynolds making a John Terry like goal line clearance under pressure! But we couldn't hold them off forever, eventually going behind after switching off at a corner kick.

Second half was a very different story, Saints were back playing their passing game going forward, showing off some great counter-attacking moves, and creating chance after chance. It was looking a bit like 'one of those days' where nothing will go in for us, until Liam Hetheringtons effort was deflected over the Sporting keeper and into the net. 1-1. Me and Paula were tearing our hair out for fear of conceding a late goal... then all of a sudden Liam Smith hit a lofted pass over the oppositions defence, and to our joy, the keeper as well! Would go down as a keeping error, but we'll take it anyday! 2-1 with 5 minutes left, the Saints fans were holding their breath waiting for the final whistle after a couple of rather anxious moments... finally after what seemed like an eternity, the ref blew for full time and the Saints take a second concecutive victory!

Well done to all the players, I wasn't too impressed with Sportings approach to the game, but to your credit you rose above it well and punished them in the best way possible.

Well done to Dillon who ran his legs of all game and to Liam Hetherington who got the Man of the Match award.

See you all at training, please remember to take these sessions seriously now as it's important to keep this form going.

Well said Tom I may do all the talking in matches but you've left me nothing else to say except you got your just rewards and I am so proud of you all for not giving up this season. These last few matches have shown just what you can achieve and I just hope we can pull out all the stops next week and finish it off in big style against Clitheroe Wolves. Well done Andy for your great clearance, Dillon all over the place as usual and the back four you were brilliant in fact its unfair to single anyone out because you all played your hearts out and in the second half I think you all deserved to be man of the match as you fought and fought against a very unsporting team and you got the result you deserved. A big well done to you all. Paula.

Great result lads, would be great to get three on the bounce.
Next week don't forget to shave and put your hair gel on, I'll be there taking photos

PS To all the lads, please check to see if your picture is on the website, when they were taken I think Nathan and Philip shot off early. If you're not there I'll catch you Sunday.

Nathan... 3-3 and 3 goals scored aren't quite the same, are they?

If you were to bet on 3-3 then go back to the betting store and say "well, three goals were scored", you may not get your money back! Please don't take up gambling.
