Crown Paints v Rooks

Crown Paints v Rooks

I'm going to change my login to Honest Jon I think because I can't come on here and gloss over a game.

This was a game of two halves today lads, first half you were horse manure despite a great strike from Callum hitting the post and a great free kick from Ben needing a good save from their keeper.
Their goal from the free kick was a forgone conclusion from where it was taken. I just have no confidence in you defending this sort of set play. Has our keeper got laringytus or something, he's the one that should be setting the wall and the wall itself, not one of you looked back for instruction anyway. Despite our shortcomings it was a great strike anyway.
We gave them the midfield, they controlled the game and played how they wanted to play but it still wasn't all one way traffic. We put an enourmous amount of pressure on ourselves by dwelling on the ball and being disposessed, by not getting the tackles in and when we did it was like watching Rudolph Nureyev at the Bolshei Ballet. Totally inefective and pointless. There were two extremely good tackles though, one from Marc and one from Jay, that's how you tackle to win a ball.

I watched you at half time and although one down your body language gave me confidence that you could turn it round. What a difference it was in the second half, you started to play football like the Rooks can. There was some good passing and laying off of balls, challenges were going in and although we didn't dominate the midfield we certainly challenged for it. 8)
Callums goal was I suppose a bit fortunate to go in but he was in the right place at the right time and the build up on the right was excellent. I think it was Ben that put the cross in, if it wasn't I apologise but it was brilliant. What a good little winger Ben has become this year, his corners and free kicks are so dangerous to the opposition. Rooks second goal came from one of these corners and Dec struck a ball as sweet as you like that deserves any acolade you care to give it. :D
The game after that did become a bit scrappy at times but you kept the pressure on them and made them play the ball instead of giving them time. You could have had a few more and how Bens effort from the right stayed out at the end I'll never know, I think a defender just managed to get a toe to it.

This was a massive game for you today lads specially them being in second place and you were up for making it yours especially second half. A two one win gets you the same points as a six one win so well done.
It's still not over and done with, three more games, possible nine points, let's have them. Just a final point, we need to start off like we normally do, sharp and to the ball first. Well done on your achievements.

Thank you Marc, you could have got a cuddle this morning  but you had other things on your mind.

I wish sometimes someone would disagree with at least some of what I say, I'd like to think that maybe I over state sometimes in my perspective of the game.

My old ticker doesn't like games like this, if you were mid-table it would have been really exciting but given it was a crucial game it's nerve wracking. The three points today mattered more than how you played, once safe and secure you can get back to the pretty stuff.

I disagree with you john you've got the game all wrong, which game were you actually watching.

HEE HEE got you there. That's what we like about your post jon your honest, yes we won but like you said there are things we need to improve on from what I've heard. Not taking anything away from the lads it was a big win for you today and even I was nervous waiting for the beep on my phone to tell me the score I had butterflies for you all.

One more win should seal the title so come on you saints lets see that magic from you against Ossie next week.

No sorry jon. I can't disagree with you either because you write the reports so well and I enjoy reading them. It again, was another hard game to watch , I wanted to turn away when crown had a corner because i just couldn't watch. My heart was in my hands the whole time.

I just want to know one thing though, how do you remember it all !!!!

Thank you to you two lovely ladies, flattery will get you everywhere.

Don't remember it all Lyndsay  I use my workplace training to recall, it's a bit like speed reading   I remember all the main points and plays and as I'm writing the detail just seems to come. The main problem I have is remembering who scores :? like todays second goal from Dec, I watched the shot and the flight of the ball and didn't really take note of who hit it.

It really is nice to have my comments appreciated, I critisise with the best of intention and hope it's taken as being constructive. This team could go a long way if they stay together, look at the performance over the last three years. 8)
